Julie Anne Miller,
violin

Julie Anne Miller is a student at CSUS where she is a double major in Violin and Voice. She is currently concertmaster of the CSUS Symphony and studies violin with Ian Swensen. Julie Anne has worked with the Strings Project at CSUS and teaches private students in violin. When Julie Anne is not playing the violin, she enjoys cooking and spending time outside hiking and bike riding. Julie Anne is also available as a vocal soloist.

Abigail Moniz
violin

Abigail Moniz studied violin with William Barbini at CSU Sacramento and at the Manhattan School of Music under Patinka Kopec. She is former concertmaster of the CSUS Symphony and winner of the 2003 concerto competition, appearing as soloist with the ensemble. She has also attended several summer festivals including California Summer Music at Pebble Beach and the San Diego Chamber Music Festival. Abby is currently a student at CSUS.

Kim LaSavio,
viola and manager

Kim LaSavio is a Viola Performance major at CSUS, studying with Anna Kruger.  She has attended chamber and orchestral music workshops in California and Alaska and is currently principal violist with the CSUS Symphony.  Kim has helped organize chamber music at the University and with Chico-Sac Chamber Music Workshop.  She has played with the Amador Friends of Music Festival Orchestra, the Sonora Bach Festival, Sierra Symphony, Camellia Symphony, and Gold Country Chamber Orchestra. Kim also enjoys arranging popular music for string quartet. 

 

Maria Berenice Hoyos
cello

Maria Berenice Hoyos is from Colombia and came to California to study for her Master's degree in cello performance with Andy Luchansky at CSU Sacramento. Maria obtained an undergraduate degree in cello performance at Antioquia University ( Colombia ). She also studied singing at the Fine Arts Institute ( Colombia ). She has enjoyed varied experiences as a performer. She played for the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra, where she was featured as a soloist several times. She also played with the Antioquia Symphony Orchestra ( Colombia ), Eafit Symphony Orchestra, and Texas Christian University Orchestra. She worked with several chamber groups in her home country and also has played several recitals in Chicago with the pianist Martin Suarez. She gained her teaching experience at the Antioquia University , The Fine arts Institute and the Real Musical Amadeus ( Colombia ). Currently, she is teaching in the String Project at CSUS.
